Hello hello bloggers! I’ve teamed up with Megan (@meganthemeganerd on Instagram) to create an October Bookstagram Challenge for anyone who wants to participate!! We included some of our favorite quotes on each day so feel free to guess which book they came from xD Don’t forget to use the hashtag #WatermelaNerdsOctober so we can see your photos and comment below if you plan to participate! We’ll feature our favorites every week [:
Here’s an explanation of the month’s prompts:
Day 1: “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” October TBR
Take a photo of what you plan to read in October! Or, if you’re like me and can’t decide an entire month’s worth of reading at once, show us your first October read.
Day 2: “We’ve had one, yes. But what about second breakfast?” Book + Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we want to see what you had!
Day 3: “The seaweed is always greener in somebody else’s lake.” What (fictional or non-fictional) underwater creature would you be?
A mermaid? A sea dragon? A dolphin? A whale?
Day 4: “When in doubt, go to the library.” Release of Chamber of Secrets illustrated edition!
Show us those gorgeous Jim Kay illustrations or your Harry Potter appreciation!
Day 5: “Have a biscuit, Potter.” Your favorite fictional teacher (World Teachers Day)
Teachers can be found in many shapes and forms. Be creative!
Day 6: “It’s always tea time.” Book + Tea (or preferred beverage) (Mad Hatter Day)
Books and tea are like peanut butter and jelly! However, if you don’t like tea, we understand. What’s your favorite beverage?
Day 7: “Sleep has no place it can call its own.” Book you stayed up all night reading
We’ve all done it. For some books, it’s worth being a zombie for a day.
Day 8: “We need never be ashamed of our tears.” Which character death made you cry?
TEARS STREAM. DOWN ON YOUR FACE. I can think of at least five character deaths that ripped my heart out.
Day 9: “Dobby has got a sock… Dobby is free.” #socksunday
Cute socks are great for pictures and always brighten up Sundays!
Day 10: “Don’t let the hard days win.” Book that wrecked you
Book hangovers are a real ailment and can definitely be found on WebMD. Which book left you in a book hangover so strong you couldn’t function?
Day 11: “Riddikulus!” What would your boggart be? (Face Your Fears Day)
Boggarts shift into your worst fear when you see them. What would yours be?
Day 12: “I was a survivor, and I was strong.” Which Fae powers would you want to have?
Fae are pretty great – fast, strong, magical…if you were Fae, what powers would you have?
Day 13: “It was all little black dresses and red ties and any sort of food you wanted, as long as it was shrimp.” Book + Lunch
We just really like seeing pictures of books and food. YUMS.
Day 14: “No Mourners, No Funerals.” Create the Ultimate Squad
Squads/crews in books are one of my favorite things to read about. Mix and match to create your own!
Day 15: “Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have.” Unpopular Opinion
Shhh we won’t tell anyone.
Day 16: “If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world” Dinner #withasideofbooks (World Food Day)
I’m telling you, we really, really, really like food (and books).
Day 17: “Am I Not Merciful?” Happy book birthday, Gemina!
We’ve been waiting for this day for a year. It’s finally here!
Day 18: “For you, I’d say chocolate cake is most definitely a need.” Book + Cake/BookCake (National Chocolate Cupcake Day)
Personally, I can’t see chocolate cake without thinking of Celaena and Dorian! Take a photo with books and cake or a bookcake and then you ready-made have an excuse to eat cake! You’re welcome 🙂
Day 19: “This is so much better than a net drama.” Book that was better than the movie
Books are always better than the movie so you shouldn’t have any trouble with this!
Day 20: “Ash fell from the sky.” Create Your Own Dystopia
Take elements from different worlds or invent your own? Tell us the history! What happened to make the utopia fail?
Day 21: “You are a torch against the night.” Book + Candle/Lights
The bookish candle and fairylight obsession is real and will only grow stronger as Fall progresses.
Day 22: “Hello, Feyre, darling.” Which character made you fall head-over-heels in love?
I think you know our answer *cough Rhys cough*
Day 23: “How long have you been seventeen?” Would you want to be immortal?
Yes, this is an intentionally deep question.
Day 24: “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” 62 Sleeps ‘til Christmas!
Not that we’re counting.
Day 25: “Everybody loves meatballs.” Book + Pasta (World Pasta Day)
In compiling these prompts, we found that pasta is seriously underappreciated in literature. Show us your pasta (and book) love!!
Day 26: “I AM THE PUMPKIN KING!” Book + Pumpkin [any kind] (National Pumpkin Day)
Yes! A perfect day for showing off the 20 pumpkins you bought at the store last weekend and weren’t sure what to do with.
Day 27: “You’re just as sane as I am.” Character/Plot attributes that drive you insane
The things, the tropes, the personalities that you can’t stand.
Day 28: “Hakuna Matata!” #10thingsthatmakemehappy
Add a little happiness and gratitude to your Friday!
Day 29: “Mom. I have something to tell you. I’m undead.” Which character would you bring back to life?
CAN I SAY ALL OF THEM?
Day 30: “I think she wants to read the whole library before Christmas.” October Wrap Up
October flew by! Show us what you read!
Day 31: “Double, double toil and trouble.” Happy Halloween!
We had to have one Halloween post. It’s required. Show us how you’re celebrating or your favorite bookish Halloween moment!
